The purpose of this project was to devise a transportation strategy for five Gabon national parks slated for development. This transportation strategy includes the evaluation of air landing strips and roads to facilitates, and even induce tourism.
- Phase I is a comprehensive analysis of the demand for transportation services, by origin and destinations.
- Phase II consists of the on-site engineering analysis, and
- Phase III synthesizes the results of the first two phases, presents results for discussion as part of a workshop in Libreville and finalizes recommendations in a final report.
The project covers the national parks in Lopé, Ivindo, Batéké, Loango and Mayumba. Thirty seven (37) projects are recommended, described, prioritized and costed as part of the final report, covering air service, ground transportation planning, road maintenance, and lagoons and waterways.
